Slovakia's Veronika Vadovičová will be hoping to return to the top of the podium at the World Shooting Para Sport Championships in Cheongju after failing to medal at the Al Ain World Cup in March.

Prior to that competition in the United Arab Emirates, the 35-year-old had won every R2 women's 10 metre air rifle standing SH1 compeittion since claiming the Paralympic gold medal at Rio 2016, so her failure to make the podium in Al Ain came as a huge shock.

In the men's version of Vadovičová's event, South Korea's Jinho Park will have the home crowd on his side at the CheongJU Shooting Range and will be looking to add more gold medals to his collection after winning a pair at the World Cup in Bangkok last November.

The competition looks wide open in the R4 mixed 10m air rifle standing SH2 event as Slovenia's Paralympic champion Veselka Pevec had to drop out due to illness.

Her compatriot Gorazd Francek Tirsek will be looking to take advantage of Pevec's absence, as will South Korea's Rio 2016 bronze medallist Geunsoo Kim.

Sareh Javanmardi is the name to look out for in the pistol events as she looks to claim the women's 10m air pistol SH1 title.

She made history at Rio 2016 by becoming the first Iranian to win a shooting Paralympic gold medal.

Her closest challenger is likely to be Turkey’s Rio 2016 bronze medallist Ayşegül Pehlivanlar, who beat her at the World Cup in Osijek in Croatia last September.

The event is due to begin tomorrow and conclude on May 11.
