The President has now encouraged other Indonesians to back the Games by wearing official merchandise.

"Everyone I invite to come together to promote our country this year, and that there will be a big event, the Asian Games," Widodo said.

"So wear Asian Games t-shirts and you could wear a jacket like this too."

The Asian Games are due to take place from August 18 until September 2 across the two Indonesian host cities.

Ten thousand athletes from 45 National Olympic Committees will compete in 40 sports, 67 disciplines and 463 events.
