China’s Huang Xiaohui won her women’s three metres springboard semi-final as action begun today at the International Swimming Federation (FINA) Diving Grand Prix in Calgary.

Huang posted a total of 353.30 points to beat compatriot Chen Yiwen by a margin of 56.1 at the Canadian city’s Repsol Sports Centre.

Great Britain’s Alicia Blagg finished 65.60 points behind in third.

In the other semi-final, Jennifer Abel led a Canadian one-two ahead of Pamela Ware.

Abel scored 318.15 points, while Ware managed 302.10.

Russia’s Maria Polyakova finished third with 274.50 points.

China dominated today’s men’s 10m platform action with Yao Zelin and Yu Duan winning their respective semi-finals.

Yao scored 407.10 points with Britain’s Matthew Lee second on 399.50 and Italy’s Vladimir Barbu third on 386.95.

Yu, meanwhile, eased to victory with 475.30 points.

Australia’s Domonic Bedggood finished second with 433.75 points, while home favourite Vincent Riendeau came third with 399.75.

The finals in both events are due to take place on Saturday (May 12).

Tomorrow’s action sees the preliminaries and semi-finals held in the men’s 3m springboard and women’s 10m platform events.
