Delegates from National Olympic Committees across South and East Asia have heard updates about this year's Asian Games in Jakarta Palembang at an Olympic Solidarity and Olympic Council of Asia Regional Forum in Phnom Penh.

Taking place at the Sokha Hotel in Phnom Penh, the Forum was also an opportunity to hear progress updates on a variety of different sporting events taking place across the region.

The Asian Games, due to be held in Indonesia from August 18 until September 2, formed the centrepiece of discussions.

NOCs were told by Jakarta Palembang secretary general Eris Herryanto that the draw for team sports will take place on July 15.

The online accreditation deadline has also been extended from April 30 to May 15, he said.

It was also revealed that tickets to watch the 40 sports and 463 events are expected to go on sale to the public next month.

Over 24,600 people, including 456 from overseas, have supposedly applied to be one of 13,000 volunteers required at the Games.

It is hoped that there will be 11,000 volunteers in Jakarta and 2,000 in Palembang, capital of South Sumatra.

Other events discussed included Tokyo 2020's "Sport for Tomorrow" scheme and the first Winter Children of Asia International Sports Games due to take place in Sakhalin in 2019.

“We hope we have reached our objectives, that we have shared information and that this regional forum has been interesting and fruitful,” said Olympic Solidarity’s continental manager for Asia, Olivier Niamkey, in closing the forum.

“You have been great in sharing.

"To our hosts, the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, you have done a great job.”
