Host nation Sweden have named their men's squad for next month's International Blind Sport Federation Goalball World Championship in Mälmo.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from June 3 to 8 at the Baltiska Hallen and Baltiska Träningshalle venues.

Sweden will be guided by manager Florim Seremeti and assistant manager Zoltan Szabo and have selected six players and two reserves.

Captain Fatmir Seremeti returns from the Rio 2016 Paralympic team which lost the bronze medal match 6-5 in overtime to host nation Brazil.

Stefan Gahne, Nils Posse and Mikael Akerberg will also be in action again after appearing at the Paralympics.

Magnus Rendahl is another to be selected alongside Olof Ryberg, while Dzenan Ajdinoviv and Johan Pettersson are the reserves.

Sweden will play Paralympic champions Lithuania, Algeria, China, Belgium, Argentina, Australia and Turkey in Group A at the World Championships.

Group B features reigning world champions Brazil, who won the 2014 edition in Espoo in Finland.

They will play against United States, Canada, Germany, Iran, Egypt, Czech Republic and Japan.

In the women's tournament, Sweden will also meet the Paralympic champions after being selected with Turkey in Group C.

Russia, Japan, Australia and Israel complete the pool.

In Group D, world champions the US will meet world number one side China, Algeria, Canada, Greece and Brazil.

The top four countries from each of the men's and women's groups will reach the quarter-finals.

As well as being the most important tournament on the goalball calendar, it will also act as a qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
