Brazil's Evandro Gonçalves and Andre Loyola have reached their second-straight final on the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Beach World Tour after earning a place in the gold medal match at their home event in Itapema today.

The reigning world champions, who are yet to drop a set in the tournament, beat Poland’s Bartosz Losiak and Piotr Kantor 21-19, 21-16 to win their fifth straight match in the specially-built arena at Meia Praia in the Brazilian coastal city.

It followed a 21-16, 21-13 victory over Canada's Sam Pedlow and Sam Schachter in the quarter-finals.

The Brazilian duo's successful journey to the final comes on the back of a second-place finish at the Huntington Beach Open in the United States earlier this month.

"We knew that their playing style would be an issue for us because we're both tall players," Gonçalves said.

"I think we were very patient during the game and Andre played amazingly, especially on blocking.

"We're in a good form and it's great to be in the final again.

"We've been playing well all week-long and we'll need to do it again."

In the second semi-final, Norway's Christian Sørum and Anders Mol posted an impressive 21-17, 21-13 win over Brazil's Guto Carvalhaes and Vitor Felipe to advance to their first-ever FIVB World Tour final.

Losiak and Kantor will face Guto and Felipe in the men's bronze medal match.

The final of the women's tournament will see Brazil’s Agatha Bednarczuk and Duda Lisboa face Switzerland's Joana Heidrich and Anouk Vergé-Dépré, looking for their first titles in 2018.

Bednarczuk and Duda, the winners of the 2017 FIVB World Tour tournament in Brazil, booked their place in the final with a 21-17, 17-21, 15-8 victory over fellow Brazilians Carolina Solberg and Maria Elisa Antonelli.

"We'd lost our last three matches against them in the Brazilian Tour and we really wanted to find a way to beat them," Bednarczuk said.

"We studied their game a lot, but we knew that wouldn’t be enough because they are playing really well and they’ve been in the World Tour for a while.

"We were really aggressive and we played together and I think that was the difference."

Heidrich and Vergé-Dépré will play in their second final since joining together last year after they recovered from a first-set loss to overcome Canada's Heather Bansley and Brandie Wilkerson 15-21, 21-15, 15-13.

The Swiss duo, who won the silver medal in Dutch city The Hague in 2017, when they lost to Solberg and Antonelli, will play for their first gold medal as a team.

The women’s bronze medal match pits Solberg and Antonelli against Bansley and Wilkerson.

All four medal matches are scheduled for tomorrow.

The women's final will precede the men's equivalent.
