The South American nation proved to be dominant at the one-day event at the Olympic Oval in the Canadian city.

Rio 2016 Paralympic silver medallist Lucia Araujo won the women's under-63 kilograms division with Maria Lins topping the pile at under-57kg.

Antonio Tenorio, a quadruple Paralympic champion, clinched the under-100kg crown with Rebeca Silva the women's under-70kg winner and Luan Pimental the men's under-73kg victor.

Arthur Silva won the men's under-90kg title and Wilians Araujo was crowned as the men's under-100kg gold medallist as the division was uncontested.

Hosts Canada enjoyed two titles as Priscilla Gagné and Justin Karn topped the women's under-52kg and men's under-60kg classes respectively.

"This was really important to me personally because it was held in Canada, and also because it took place at the same time as the Canadian Judo Championships," said Gagné.

"That made it special, but it also boosted my confidence for the Tokyo Paralympic qualifiers."

A trio of other countries took home gold medals from the event.

Mexico's Paralympic champion Lenia Ruvalcaba triumphed in the women's under-70kg and Argentina's Paulian Karina Gomez followed suit in the women's under-48kg.

Luis Perez topped the podium for Puerto Rico in the men's under-66kg.

Fifty athletes competed in Calgary in all, with the World Championships in Lisbon looming on the horizon between November 16 and 18.
