The United States completed a clean sweep of the team titles on the last day of the Pan American Fencing Championships in Havana after winning the men’s sabre and women’s foil events.

The men’s sabre final saw the US beat Canada 45-30 at the Coliseo de la Ciudad Deportiva in the Cuban capital.

It followed a 45-19 victory over Argentina in the semi-finals.

Argentina bounced back from that defeat to overcome Venezuela 45-42 in the bronze medal match.

Venezuela fell to a 45-39 loss to Canada in the other penultimate-round clash.

The US also beat Canada to the gold medal in the women’s foil, winning the final 45-38.

They had earlier beaten Brazil 45-21 in the semi-finals.

Brazil finished third thanks to a 45-27 victory over Argentina in the bronze medal match.

Argentina lost 45-16 to Canada in the other last-four encounter.

The US also won five of the six individual events at the Pan American Fencing Championships, meaning they finished on 11 gold medals overall.
