Three-time Paralympic champion Ktila clinched two gold medals at the Rades Stadium in the Tunisian capital.

He emerged as the winner of the men’s T34/52/53 100 metres event, before triumphing in the 800m competition.

Ktila won the 800m race in a time of 2min 0.53sec.

His compatriot Gharbi eased to victory in the T54 800m, with the wheelchair racer finishing in a time of 1:40.10.

The Tunisian star will now look for further success in the 200m and 400m in the coming days, with the world champion the clear favourite in both.

Abdelli delivered home success in field competition, as she achieved a distance of 7.63m in the women’s F40 shot put.

She was followed by her team-mate Raja Jebali, who managed 7.14m.

Morocco’s Fouzia El Kassioui won the women’s F32/33 shot put with a distance of 9.65m, while Syria’s Alaa Abdulsalam threw 7.10m to win the men’s F52/53/54 competition.

Abdulsalam’s team-mate Sawsak Bassam won the men’s F42/44/46 discus event by achieving a distance of 39.30m.

South Africa’s Commonwealth Games silver medallist Hilton Langenhoven won the men’s T12 100m event in a time of 11.34 seconds.

He finished ahead of Turkey’s Hakan Cira, who finished second in 11.44.

Anrune Liebenberg delivered further South African success, as she won the women’s T36/37/38/47 200m event in a time of 25.61.

Competition will continue in Tunis tomorrow.
