Rob Jones has been named as the new chair of the board at NISA, having recently retired as chief executive at the Motor Sports Association ©NISA

Rob Jones, previously chief executive of the UK motor sports governing body the Motor Sports Association, has been named new chair of the National Ice Skating Association of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (NISA).

Jones will take up the post for four years with immediate effect.

Until recently he worked as chief executive of the MSA, but he announced his retirement in April after 12 years at the association.

He is also a qualified lawyer.

NISA is currently in the midst of a transition period and Jones joins at what has been described as a "challenging time".

"NISA has started along the critical route to ensuring that the sport is in the best possible position to take advantage of every opportunity by approving new Articles of Association in December 2017, ensuring future alignment with U.K. Sport best practice," he said.

"Now we need to build on that and I am delighted to be leading the Board of this great Olympic sport."
