Hungary continued their impressive start to the European Canoe Marathon Championships as they claimed another three gold medals on the second day of competition in Metković in Croatia.

Csilla Rugasi and Viktória Tofalvi set the tone for what would prove to be another successful day for the Hungarian team by winning the junior women's K2 event in 1 hour  22min 56sec.

Italy's Petra Giuliano and Teresa Isotta did enough for silver, while bronze also went to Hungary as Viktória Nagy and Zsófia Bartos came through to finish third.

Ádám Horvath and Marcell Mercz topped the podium in the men's equivalent after they clocked a time of 1:34:23.

The French pairing of Briac Labbe and Lois Mille took silver, with bronze going to William Scammell and James Bell of Britain.

The Hungarian hat-trick was complete when Zoltán Vass and Bence Bucsi triumphed in the C2 junior men race in 1:28:29.

Leonardo Vicente and Rodrigo Amaral of Portugal were the recipients of the silver medal and Poland's Adrian Klos and Grzegorz Ludwiczak claimed bronze.

Poland had earlier enjoyed a one-two in the under-23 men's C1 event as Mateusz Borgiel edged compatriot Patryk Gluza to take gold.

Sérgio Maciel narrowly finished behind Gluza as the Portuguese was forced to settle for bronze.

Senior competition is due to begin tomorrow.
