The United States booked their place in the semi-finals of the International Basketball Federation Under-17 World Cup as the four-time defending champions thrashed Croatia in Argentina.

The US team continued their pursuit of a fifth straight title with a comprehensive 126-52 victory at the Union Athletic Club in Santa Fe.

Canada await for the US in the last four after they edged Australia 74-70 in their quarter-final clash.

Puerto Rico and France are due to meet in the other semi-final match after they also progressed today.

France recorded their fifth consecutive win at the tournament in the Argentinian city with an 86-70 success over Turkey, while Puerto Rico beat Montenegro 75-60.

Both Puerto Rico and France will be making their first Under-17 World Cup semi-final appearance.

Jalen Green was the star of the show for the American side, who are looking to maintain their dominance of the Under-17 World Cup, in the win over Croatia.

Green produced a stunning final quarter display, racking up 21 points in just over four-and-a-half minutes, for the US, who have won every edition of the tournament to date.

"I felt during our warm-ups that our kids were really primed for this game," said US head coach Don Showalter.

"We are at that point now where you can’t play poorly.

"I think our team kind of wanted to prove they are ready to contend for a medal.

"That was a really big game for us to get to the semi-final.

"I’m not sure I’ve ever had an under-17 team play to this level that these guys did tonight for a full game."

Both semi-finals are due to be held tomorrow, before the final takes place on Sunday (July 8).
