Home sailors Lukasz Przybytek and Pawel Kolodzinski retained the overall lead after only one race was possible in the men’s 49er class at the European Championships in the seaside town of Gdynia in Poland today.

The men’s 49er fleet were able to get back out onto the water today, following a lack of winds preventing them from racing yesterday.

Przybytek and Kolodzinski began the day with 30 points, just one clear of their nearest challengers Diego Botín and Iago Lopez of Spain.

The Polish pair would finish in sixth place in today’s race, which was won by France’s Lucas Rual and Amoros Emile.

The result moved the home favourites onto 36 points for the regatta, but saw them edge further away from their Spanish rivals.

Botín and Lopez would end in eighth place to move three points off the lead on a total of 39.

Britain’s reigning world and European champions Dylan Fletcher-Scott and Stuart Bithell remain in the hunt for a medal.

The pairing lie third overall on 45 points, having ended as the runners-up in the sole race managed today.

They are one point clear of Germany’s Justus Schmidt and Max Boehme.

Spain's Carla Munté Carrasco and Marta Munté Carrasco remain the leaders of the women’s 49erFX competition on 39 points with no racing possible today in the discipline.

Norway’s Helene Naess and Marie Ronningen are second on 47 points.

Two races were possible in the Nacra 17 competition, with Italy’s Tita Ruggero and Caterina Banti leading on 17 points overall.

They are followed by New Zealand’s Gemma Jones and Jason Saunders on 20, with Spain’s Fernando Echavarri and Tara Pacheco rounding off the top three on 21.
