Favourites Egypt won twice as the team event got underway ©WSF

Hot favourites Egypt began the boys team event at the World Junior Individual Squash Championships in Chennai with two victories.

The North African powerhouse won both of their Group A matches in the Indian city without dropping a match.

They first beat Singapore 3-0 and then followed that up with a similar whitewash against Australia.

Mostafa Asal, crowned as the boys' individual champion yesterday, led the charge for the top-seeded country alongside Mostafa El Serty and Omar El Torkey.

Second seeds Canada were in action once today at the Indian Squash Academy, beating Scotland 3-0 in Group B.

Ryan Picken, George Crowne and Julien Gosset all collected victories in their success.

England, seeded third, collected two victories in Group C.

They defeated South Africa 2-1 and shut-out Ireland 3-0.

Fourth seeds Malaysia played once in Group D, whitewashing Germany 3-0.

More group matches are scheduled for the tournament tomorrow.
