Medals were won in junior trap competitions today ©ESC

Turkey and Italy scooped junior trap titles today at the European Shotgun Championship at the Shooting Park Leobersdorf.

Italy's Eric Sessa shot 38 in the women's final to narrowly defeat Russian rival Daria Semianova.

Semianova shot 37 as Great Britain's Rebecca Ferguson took a distant bronze with 29.

Murat Ilbilgi also claimed Turkish gold in the corresponding men's event.

Italy's Matteo Marongiu and Czech Republic's Fabio Beccari shared silver.

Qualifying also took place in the senior trap competitions today.

Belgium's Maxime Mottet, Croatia's Anton Glasnovic and Serbia's Borko Vasiljevic are tied for the lead in the men's competition with 50 shots.

Melanie Couzy of France is the sole leader in women's qualifying with 50.

Italy's Federica Caporuscio and Spain's Francisca Munoz de Leon Moral lie joint second with 49. 

Both senior finals are scheduled for tomorrow before team and mixed team finals over the following two days.

Focus will then turn to the double trap and skeet from Monday (August 6) with a series of individual, team and mixed team events due to be held.

Action is due to continue until August 12.
