Spain and Sweden were among teams to reach the last 16 at the Women's Youth World Handball Championship in Poland today.

It came on the final stage of round-robin action before the knock-out stages begin.

Sweden beat Egypt 28-23 in Group B at Legionów Hall in Kielce to seal their progression.

Hungary beat hosts Denmark 28-25 to top the group, although both teams progress.

Croatia also edged Chile 21-20 today and will claim the fourth spot in the group.

Defending bronze medallists South Korea beat France 45-39 to progress in Group D at the Kielce University of Technology.

France also go through in second as Spain defeated Tunisia 29-22 in another clash between two teams guaranteed to go forward.

Montenegro won 29-24 against Kazakhstan in the battle between the two eliminated teams.

Germany, Romania, Poland and Austria are the four teams guaranteed to progress in Group A ahead of the final round of games.

Russia, Norway and The Netherlands will definitely progress from Group D.

Japan will join them if they beat China but the Chinese and Argentina, who lost 33-18 to the Dutch today, do also have a mathematical chance of moving forward.

There will be a rest day tomorrow before knock-out action begins on Wednesday (August 15).
