Two-time defending champions Cuba and Japan secured their places in the super round as the World Baseball Softball Confederation Under-15 World Cup continued in Panama today.

The Cuban team thrashed South Africa 10-0 to maintain their 100 per cent start to the tournament in the Group B encounter at the Estadio Rico Cedeño in Chitré.

Japan joined Cuba in the super round with a 13-7 victory over Dominican Republic in the same group.

The top three teams in each group will progress to the next phase of the competition.

Matches in Group A were postponed and rearranged for tomorrow owing to heavy rain.

The contest between Brazil and top seeds the United States was halted with the American side leading 4-0 in the first inning.

Germany and hosts Panama were left frustrated as no play was possible owing to the adverse conditions.

Panama are all-but assured of a place in the super round as they lead the group standings with three wins from their first three matches.

The Group A matches are due to take place tomorrow.
