Brady Ellison will seek a third consecutive victory in the recurve category at the 2018 World Archery Field Championships that start at Cortina d'Ampezzo in Italy tomorrow.

The American archer, who earned his previous titles at Zagreb in 2014 and in Dublin two years after, will take on a field that includes the 2012 winner, Jean-Charles Valladont of France.

Sweden's Erik Jonsson will also seek a hat-trick of titles in the men's barebow category against a field that includes 2010 winner Pasi Ahjokivi of Finland.

Ellison's compatriot Steve Anderson will defend his title in the men's compound class.

Amy Oliver will not defend her recurve title - although the British banner will be carried by Naomi Folkard and Bryony Pitman.

Germany's 2014 winner Lisa Unruh and Italy's 2008 winner Jessica Tomasi will expect to figure significantly.

The defending 2016 women's champion in the compound class, Italy's Irene Franchini, faces a field that includes past winners Anne Lantee of Finland, gold medallist in 2010, and her predecessor, Jamie Van Natta of the US.

The 2016 women's barebow champion, Chantal Porte, is absent, but France's banner will be carried by Christine Gauthe in a field that includes the 2012 and 2014 champion, Lina Bjorklund of Sweden, and Italy's 2010 gold medallist Eleanora Strobbe.

The men's and women's team titles will be defended by the US and Britain respectively.

This format allows for performance in qualifying to be carried over to knock-out rounds, with the possibility of byes and affecting starting positions.]
