His compatriot Ryosuke Irie would end four seconds off the pace as the runner-up at the Pieter van den Hoogenband zwemstadion.

Kirill Prigoda was edged out by Irie, with the Russian swimmer forced to settle for third place in 1:55.71.

Sarah Sjöström bounced back from her rare loss in the 50m freestyle yesterday, as the Swedish star secured two wins today.

She achieved a winning time of 24.61 in the women's 50m butterfly event, ending 0.06 seconds clear of 50m freestyle winner Ranomi Kromowidjojo of The Netherlands.

United States' Kelsi Dahlia completed the top three, as she managed a time of 25.14.

Sjöström had earlier denied another home favourite victory by winning the women's 200m freestyle in a time of 1:52.25.

It left Femke Heemskerk to settle for second place, with the Dutch swimmer ending narrowly behind on 1:52.98.

China's Jianjiahe Wang was third in 1:53.40.

Russia successfully continued at the World Cup as Yuliya Efimova celebrated another breaststroke victory.

Efimova added to her 200m triumph by winning the 100m event in 1:03.41, with Jamaica's Alia Atkinson and the United States' Molly Hannis rounding off the top three in 1:03.74 and 1:05.65.

Vladimir Morozov completed the double in the men's freestyle events, as the Russian secured victory in the 100m.

The 50m winner produced a time of 45.69 over the longer distance to seal his second triumph in Eindhoven, with the US' Blake Pieroni ending as the runner-up in 46.45.

Third place was claimed by Russia's Vladislav Grinev, who clocked 46.58.

Morozov was unable to complete a hat-trick of wins, as he was beaten by Mitch Larkin in the men's 100m backstroke.

The Australian was victorious in 23.34, while Morozov managed a time of 23.42.

Japan's Kosuke Matsui completed the top three in 23.57.
