New Zealand beat the United States 33-7 in the final of the season-opening World Rugby Women's Sevens Series at the Infinity Park in Denver to win the title.

This marked New Zealand's 33rd winning match in a row, including those in the 2018 Commonwealth Games and Rugby World Cup Sevens.

"I’m just extremely proud, I’m proud of the efforts of the girls," New Zealand captain Sarah Goss said.

"We played a short pre-season but it’s been great for us because it means that we got to play earlier than we wanted.

"I thought the girls have performed extremely well.

"We had girls back in the black jersey who haven’t played in a while and I think they really showed why they are supposed to be here."
