James Hall from the United States won the 2018 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Championship of the Americas 10 metre air pistol title with an American record.

The former national championships bronze medallist finished top at the Club Cinegetico Jalisciense in Guadalajara in Mexico with a score of 240.9 points.

Second place was claimed by Guatemala’s Jose Castillo Aguilar with a score of 238.6, while the bronze medal was won by Philipe Chateaubrian Neves Freitas from Brazil, who scored 215.9.

Also taking place today were the qualifying rounds of the women’s 10m air rifle competition and the US again performed well.

The US took the top two qualifying sport through Alison Marie Weizs and Sarah Beard, who scored 627.0 and 626.1 respectively.

In all eight shooters made it through to the final from a large field of 38 athletes.
