Magomedrasul Idrisov got the night off to a good start for Russia by winning the 61 kilogram freestyle final by technical superiority against Sean Fausz from the United States.

The final score read 11-1, thanks to three takedowns by the Russian in the second half.

At 74kg it was Georgia who took the gold through Avtandil Kentchadze.

In his second world finals appearance in two months having claimed silver at the senior World Championships in Budapest last month, the Georgian upgraded to gold this time out with a win by fall over Romania's Maxim Vasilioglo.

The third final at 86kg was tighter as Iran's Kamran Ghasempour beat 2017 world junior champion Artur Naifonov from Russia 4-1, but then in the fourth there was another high scoring match as Azerbaijan's Shamil Zubairov came from behind to win gold at 92kg.

He scored 10 points in the second period alone to beat another Russian, Aslanbek Sotiev, 13-8.

Russia picked up their second gold of the night, ending the Championships and securing the freestyle team title, as the 2015 world junior champion Said Gamidov pinned Youssif Hemida from the US to win by fall at 125kg.

Georgia finished second in the team race, while Iran, who had five wrestlers in today's medal matches, ended the freestyle competition in third.
