Voting has opened for Kazakhstan's National Sports Awards ©KNOC

Voting has opened for the Kazakhstan National Olympic Committee’s (KNOC) 2018 National Sports Awards, it has been announced.

Fans have until Monday December 3 fans can vote for their winner across nine different categories, including best athlete and best coach, on KNOC’s website.

The awards were established four years ago by the President of KNOC Timur Kulibayev.

“Twenty eighteens has become one of the most intense years for our athletes,” KNOC general secretary Daniyar Abulgazin said.

"The year was not easy.

"In addition to international tournaments we had the Winter Olympic Games, the Summer Asian Games and the Summer Youth Olympic Games."

Abulgazin added that the year had "genuinely united" KNOC.

Kazakhstan won one medal at Pyeongchang 2018 - a bronze for Yuliya Galysheva in the women's moguls.

At the Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Kazakhstan ranked ninth in the final medals table.

They won a total of 76 medals, including 15 gold.

So far, 116,000 votes have been cast.

The nine different categories in full are summer athlete of the year, winter athlete of the year, young athlete of the year, summer coach of the year, winter coach of the year, national sports federation of the year in Olympic sport, best sports region, breakthrough of the year and team of the year.

A shortlist of nominees for each category was composed following a two month application process.

The winners are due announced at a Ceremony on Tuesday (December 4).
