Argentina’s Gustavo Fernandez secured a second successive victory at the Wheelchair Tennis Masters in Orlando.

Fernandez faced the challenge of Belgium’s Joachim Gerard in his second round robin match at the tournament, which only invites the world's top-ranked players.

With both players having won their opening matches, the victor would effectively be assured of a semi-final spot.

Fernandez produced a fine performance to secure a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Gerard to remain in first place in Group B.

France’s Stephane Houdet secured a 6-2, 6-2 win over Japan’s Takashi Sanada in the second Group B match of the day as they look to earn a first victory.

Britain's Gordon Reid bounced back from opening day defeat to Sweden's Stefan Olsson in Group A.

The result damaged his prospects of advancing but Reid responded from the setback in fine fashion, securing a 7-5, 6-3 win over France's Nicolas Peifer at the USTA National Campus.

Top seed Shingo Kunieda of Japan suffered only his second career defeat to Olsson, with the Swedish player qualifying for the semi-finals after a straight sets win.

In the women’s competition, Marjolein Buis of The Netherlands claimed a 6-0, 6-4 win over Kgothatso Montjane of South Africa to keep her hopes of qualification for the semi-finals alive in Group B.

Another Dutch player, Aniek van Koot lost 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 to Japan's second seed Yui Kamiji in the second match in the group.

The result saw Kamiji advance to the semi-finals.

Diede De Groot of The Netherlands secured a semi-final place by beating Italy’s Giulia Capocci 6-4, 6-1 in a top of the table clash in Group A, while Britain's Lucy Shuker lost 6-0, 6-3 to Germany's Sabine Ellerbrock.

Britain’s Andy Lapthorne beat the United States’ David Wagner 6-3, 6-4 in his first match of the quad singles.

He could win Group A tomorrow should he beat South Africa's Lucas Sithole.

Australia’s Dylan Alcott won Group B by beating Japan’s Koji Sugeno 6-4, 7-5.

The tournament invites the top eight men's and women's players and the top six in quads.
