The 27-year-old American claimed victory at the World Bowling Tour Thailand tournament, defeating male opponent Stuart Williams of England in the final game.

McEwan, from Stony Point in New York, triumphed 225-179 to claim the top prize and THB1 million (£24,000/$30,000/€27,000) in prize money.

A member of Team USA since 2012, McEwan competes on the Professional Women's Bowling Association (PWBA) circuit and in some events on the Professional Bowlers' Association tour.

She has won four PWBA titles including a major crown at the 2015 Smithfield PWBA Tour Championship.

In addition, she has won the World Bowling Tour Women's Finals twice and was a silver medallist at the 2017 World Games in Polish city Wrocław.

"I am a very focused and driven person, which makes me come across as very intense," McEwan said. 

"Where that applies to bowling, it definitely doesn't outside of it. 

"I am very adventurous and love to try new things. 

"I also love to travel and am very fortunate that my career incorporates so many opportunities to do so. 

"I love seeing different countries and experiencing their culture, sights and food."

The World Games is for sports not on the Olympic programme, and honours an athlete each month.
