The Italian rolled back the years to clinch success in front of his own fans as Czech star Ester Ledecká restored normal service by winning the women's event.

Fischnaller, who won the parallel slalom world title in 2015, came home in front of Switzerland's Nevin Galmarini at the floodlit event to take home gold.

The Swiss won the Olympic parallel giant slalom title at Pyeongchang 2018 but finished 0.17sec behind the home rider.

Austria's Benjamin Karl won the small final to take bronze, edging Andreas Prommegger of Austria.

Ledecká, who made sporting history at Pyeongchang 2018 by winning gold medals in both snowboard and Alpine skiing, had to settle for silver at the season-opener in Carezza in Italy on Thursday (December 13).

She put that right today as the three-time defending overall parallel World Cup champion defeated Switzerland's Julie Zogg in the big final.

Zogg failed to finish the course as the Czech bagged the title.

Sabine Schoeffmann of Austria won bronze by defeating Gloria Kotnik of Slovenia.

Italy's Nadya Ochner, who beat Ledecká in the Carezza final, fell to Schoeffmann in the quarter-finals.

It followed Slovenia's men's Carezza winner Tim Mastnak falling in the last-16. 

Cortina D'Ampezzo is part of a joint bid for the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics with Milan.

The Italian effort is competing against Swedish capital Stockholm.
