The Ukrainian has dominated the K42 and K43 divisions and will be a key name to watch when the sport makes its Paralympic debut in the Japanese capital.

Her story is an incredible one as she was abandoned as a baby by her family due to being born with underdeveloped arms.

Despite this she has also excelled at athletics and swimming.

A stand at the Taekwondo Museum in South Korean capital Seoul is dedicated to Marchuk.

"I long for victory," she said to the Kyiv Post.

"My health is not always on my side.

"I always dreamed of becoming an athlete. 

"The doctors didn’t always allow me to be one.

"Now my greatest ambition is to take part in the Paralympics, and I'm doing my best to do so."

Marchuk has also struggled during her career with a lack of funding from sporting bodies.

Taekwondo was one of two sports added to the Paralympic programme for Tokyo 2020, along with badminton.
