Russia's Tatyana Ivanova, who has been at the heart of the recent doping crisis, won the women's International Luge Federation (FIL) Luge World Cup event in Sigulda.

Ivanova had been banned from the Olympic Games and disqualified from Sochi 2014 for doping, losing the silver medal she won there.

She successfully appealed this decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport last February however, and was cleared of doping charges, allowing her to keep her medal.

The Russian still competed in luge events last season, with the FIL refusing to sanction the athletes banned by the International Olympic Committee.

Today she won the women's competition at the Sigulda Bobsleigh and Luge Sports Track , recording a time of 1min 24.336sec to do so.

In second was overall leader Natalie Geisenberger of Germany with a time of 1:24.464, while Summer Britcher of the United States finished third in 1:24.686.
