International Federation for Athletes with Intellectual Impairments (INAS) World Championships in skiing and cross-country athletics have been added to this year's competition calendar, the organisation has announced.

The INAS confirmed its Skiing World Championships, which will include competition in Alpine and Nordic events, would be held in France from March 5 to 11.

Autrans, which staged cross-country races at the 1968 Winter Olympic Games in Grenoble, will host competitions in Nordic disciplines, while Lans en Vercors is set to play host to Alpine events.

Alpine skiing will feature slalom, giant slalom and super-G events.

Nordic skiers will compete in the cross-country sprint, short and long distance races, as well as a 3x2.5 kilometres relay.

Around 60 athletes from 10 countries have entered the Skiing World Championships.

The INAS also revealed Ostrzeszów in Poland will host the Athletics Cross-Country World Championships from April 4 to 8.

A total of 30 competitors are scheduled to participate across men's and women's short distance, long distance and team events.

"It is great to get 2019 underway with two new additions to the competition calendar," said INAS President Marc Truffaut.

"Following on from 2018 where we had a record number of new athletes across all sports, we expect both events to be highly competitive.

"This year is a Global Games year but INAS also continues to provide opportunities for sports not on the programme, and therefore for a wide variety of athletes with intellectual impairments.

"My thanks go to the organisers of both Championships for their commitment to hosting what I am sure will be memorable events."
