Norway’s Trym Nygaard Loeken claimed a second victory in as many days at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Telemark World Cup in La Thuile with success in the men’s classic event.

The 25-year-old followed up his sprint win yesterday by triumphing with a time of 2min 0.85sec in the Italian town.

He beat nearest challenger Stefan Matter of Switzerland by a margin of 2.88 seconds.

Rounding out the podium was Matter’s compatriot Nicolas Michel, the sprint runner-up, having finished 3.62 seconds behind.

In the women’s classic event, Switzerland’s Amélie Reymond came out on top in 2:06.14.

Reymond, who finished second in yesterday's sprint competition behind France’s Argeline Tan-Bouquet, has returned to the circuit after a short break.

"Everything went well for this recovery after a longer break than usual," she was reported as saying by Le Nouvelliste.

"My competitors were able to realise that I was back."

Britain’s Jasmin Taylor finished second in 2:09.11, while Tan-Bouquet came third in 2:12.33.

The next FIS Telemark World Cup is scheduled to take place in Pralognan-la-Vanoise in France on Friday (January 25) and Saturday (January 26).
