The prestigious event has brought together various Olympic and world medallists at the AccorHotels Arena for two days of competition.

Agbegnenou won her third world title at under-63 kilograms in Baku last year and will be looking for a fifth title in Paris.

She will face fierce competition from the judoka who beat her in the Rio 2016 Olympic final, however, Slovenia's Tina Trstenjak.

Ninety-seven countries will be represented in the French capital in all at the first Grand Slam event of 2019. 

In the women's under-57kg division, Brazil's Rio 2016 Olympic champion Rafaela Silva is in action but Kosovo's European gold medallist Nora Gjakova enters in fine form.

At under-70kg, France will be looking for home success through world number two Marie-Eve Gahie while European champion Madeleine Malonga will also look for success in front of her fans in the under-78kg.

Cuba's London 2012 Olympic champion and double world gold medallist Idalys Ortiz will see action at over-78kg alongside World Judo Masters winner Akira Sone of Japan.

In men's action, three-time and reigning world champion Naohisa Takato of Japan will be looking to continue a fine record in Paris, where he has won on three occasions and never lost.

He goes in the under-60kg division.

At under-66kg another Japanese world champion will be one to watch with two-time winner Hifumi Abe looking to add to his 2017 win in Paris.

Georgia's London 2012 Olympic champion Lasha Shavdatuashvili will bid for a second Paris title at under-73kg while Iran's world champion Saeid Mollaei will compete at under-81kg.

Another Georgian in Varlam Liparteliani, an Olympic and world medallist, will aim for a third Paris crown at under-100kg but South Korea's reigning world champion Guham Cho is also in the field.
