Organisers of the 2020 International Ski Federation (FIS) Nordic Junior and Under-23 Cross-Country World Ski Championships have unveiled the logo and visual identity of the event in Oberwiesenthal.

In less than a year's time, the future stars of cross-country skiing, ski jumping and Nordic combined will descend on the German town, known as a long-time host of the Nordic Combined Summer Grand Prix.

Following the conclusion of the 2019 FIS Nordic Junior and Under-23 Cross-Country World Ski Championships in Lahti last month, a video message from the Finnish organisers transmitted their good wishes to their successors.

A young athlete was also dispatched to Oberwiesenthal to hand over a banner.

Receiving the video message and banner were district administrator Frank Vogel, Oberwiesenthal's Mayor Mirko Ernst, and Christian Freitag, chief executive of the town's ski club WSC Erzgebirge Oberwiesenthal e.V.

A delegation from Oberwiesenthal was also present in Lahti to learn and receive knowledge from their predecessors.

The Oberwiesenthal 2020 website has been launched and can be accessed by clicking here.

Additionally, social media channels have been opened with the hashtags of #JWM2020, #JWSC2020 and #hERZchampions having been chosen to help promote the event.

Russia finished top of the medal table in Lahti.

The country won seven golds, seven silvers and three bronzes with Norway second on four golds, nine silvers and six bronzes.
