Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee (SAOC) have elected Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal Al Saud as the new President of the organisation.

An election was required following the resignation of Turki bin Abdulmohsen Al-Sheikh from the post.

His resignation followed his appointment to a Governmental role in December 2018.

This led to SAOC calling an Extraordinary General Assembly.

Prince Abdulaziz, who had served as the vice-president and is Saudi Arabia's Sports Minister, was the sole candidate for the role.

This led to him being unanimously elected to the role.

The 35-year-old, an accomplished motor racing driver, who has competed in the famous Le Mans 24 hours race, finishing 27th in 2014,  will serve the remaining term of his predecessor, due to conclude in 2020.

The SAOC claim this saw the organisation opt for continuity, as with Prince Abdulaziz having been vice-president and acting secretary general.

Two Board members were also elected at the meeting.

Prince Fahad Bin Jalawi Alsaud, President of the Saudi Arabian Camel Racing Federation, joined the Board.

He was joined by Yasser O. Alrumayyan, President of the Saudi Golf Federation.
