Car manufacturer Lexus has been named as the official car of the 2019 Davis Cup Finals in Madrid.

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Kosmos Tennis made the announcement, revealing Lexus will be responsible for the transportation of the players and teams throughout the competition from November 18 to 24.

The ITF described Lexus as a "renowned worldwide car manufacturer" admired for its visionary attitude and "pursuit of perfection".

"The ITF is delighted to welcome Lexus as an official sponsor of the Davis Cup Finals and we look forward to working with them to further take the international profile of this exciting new event," ITF President David Haggerty.

The chief executive of Kosmos Tennis, Javier Alonso, meanwhile, called Lexus a "leader" within its sector.

"The agreement with the Davis Cup is part of the Lexus strategy of going from being an automobile brand to becoming a lifestyle brand," the general director of Lexus Spain, Leo Carluccio, said.

"Lexus and the Davis Cup share the same values, such as the search for excellence, the culture of hard work and working as a team.

"In addition, the innovation that the new format of the competition represents closely parallels one of the pillars of Lexus, given that it is a brand in constant search of innovation."

The Davis Cup Finals, set to be played at one venue across one week for the first time this year, will go ahead at the La Caja Mágica in Spain’s capital.
