Organisers of this year's Summer Universiade in Naples have signed an agreement with the University of Salerno guaranteeing certain students will be able to stay in their accommodation during the Games.

More than 1,000 athletes will be housed at the University during the Games and, last November, the organisers announced hundreds of students would be moved out of their accommodation to make room for them.

They have now announced an agreement, however, which will allow students with a scholarship, those with disabilities and foreign students to stay in their current housing during the Games, scheduled to take place between July 3 and 14.

The agreement was signed at the Fisciano Campus by Naples 2019 Extraordinary Commissioner Gianluca Basile, the dean of the University Aurelio Tommasetti and the President of the Adisu Regione Campania.

"It [the agreement] guarantees student scholarship recipients for the academic year 2018-19 the continuity of stay in the housing units of Fisciano Campus Lot I and in the Baronissi residences," the organisers said.

"The University accommodation of Penta (lot I and lot II) and Baronissi will also be included.

"Moreover, the agreement will guarantee students with disabilities and foreign students attending the University as well, the stay in the current housing facility, by virtue of international agreements with their universities of reference."

The agreement also guarantees all students will still be able to use the catering facilities, by putting more seats in the Fisciano Campus dining hall.

"With the unanimity of all the University members and above all with the favourable opinion of our students, we have signed this agreement that enhances the spirit of community of our University,"
