Germany's Eric Frenzel matched the all-time record of six Nordic combined world titles after he won the individual large hill/10 kilometre event at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld. 

Frenzel first won a world title in 2011, before triumphing again in 2013 and 2015.

He then secured two titles at the 2017 World Championships in Lahti.

The German recorded the highest score in the ski jumping today, with a total of 138.5 points after leaping out to 130.5 metres.

After beginning the cross-country from the front he then crossed the line in 23mins 43.0sec, enough to give him his sixth world title.

Norway's Jan Schmid was 4.3 seconds behind him in second, while Austria's Franz-Josef Rehrl was third, 8.7 seconds behind Frenzel.

Johannes Rydzek is the other Nordic combined competitor to hold six world titles, with the German finishing in ninth place today.

Frenzel is also a Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic champion in the normal hill and team relay Nordic combined events. 

The qualifying event for the men's ski jumping also took place today, with Germany's Markus Eisenbichler finishing first with 143.2 points.

He managed 128.5m to head 50 jumpers into the final.

In second was fellow German Karl Geiger with 141.1 points, while Switzerland's Killian Peier came third with 137.5. 

The final will take place tomorrow.
