The Australian, an elite-level athlete in able-bodied competition before a training crash in 2017 left her paralysed from the waist down, claimed the women's PTWC category in the New South Wales city.

She timed in at 1 hour 26min 9sec after a 750 metre swim, a 20 kilometre handcycle and a 5km wheelchair racing leg.

That gave her the victory over compatriot Emily Tapp, the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games silver medallist who clocked 1:29:25.

With every competitor across all of the categories Australian, Sara Tait came third in 1:48:06.

Other winners today included Rio 2016 Paralympic gold medallist Katie Kelly in the women's vision impaired, stopping the watches at 1:17:04.

Shannon Cleave ended in 1:27:29 for silver.

Jonathan Goerlach won the men's vision impaired in 1:06:22 as Gerrard Gosens won silver in 1:09:53 and John Domandl the bronze in 1:17:06.

In the men's PTWC, another Commonwealth Games silver medallist, Nic Beveridge, won gold in 1:21:30 as the only racer.

The men's PTS4 title went to Clint Pickin in 1:10:10 with Liam Twomey second in 1:16:28 and Dean McHardie third in 1:50:27.

Sally Pilbeam won the women's PTS4 in 1:26:55, seeing off sole rival Sharon Dagg who clocked 1:30:42.

In the men's PTS5, gold was won by Joshua Kassulke, the only competitor who clocked 1:08:12.

Two racers contested the women's PTS5, which was won by Kate Doughty in 1:21:46.

Molly Wallace finished second in 1:29:34.
