A film promoting the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping has made a huge impact on social media, attaining a reach of 12 million on Facebook and generating more than 3.6 million views on YouTube.

The Rolex Grand Slam released a new multi-channel media campaign in March 2018, which included a 60-seconds long commercial with the strapline "Surpass yourself and become a legend".

The film told the story of a rider's journey to achieve success, using emotive footage to highlight what are regarded as the most challenging show jumping events in the world, notably the four majors - the Dutch Masters, the CHIO Aachen, the CSIO Spruce Meadows Masters and the CHI Geneva.

A 30-second version of the film went on to make waves within social media, and also featured on international lifestyle online publications, including GQ, The New York Times and Bloomberg, as part of a strategy to target a wider global audience.

On the success of the campaign, the new President of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping's Steering Committee, Marcel Hünze, said: "This campaign is the first step towards raising awareness of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping and growing audience reach globally.

"Like tennis and golf, show jumping has its own Grand Slam and we want to demonstrate to the broader sporting enthusiast the parallels these three Grand Slams share, with each creating an environment for athletes to strive for excellence and pursue their dreams of becoming a legend."

The first major of the year takes place at The Dutch Masters in 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, where the world's best riders will compete for victory in the prestigious Rolex Grand Prix on March 17.

Among the stellar line-up is the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping live contender, Germany's Marcus Ehning, who will be hoping to emulate his success at CHI Geneva in December 2018 and move one step closer to lifting show jumping's most coveted trophy.

The Rolex Grand Slam is considered by the sport to be the ultimate equestrian challenge.

Launched in 2013, the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping is the only initiative to reward the outstanding rider who wins majors consecutively, at four of the world's most historic shows.

It rewards the very best horse and rider combination with a €1 million (£850,000/$1.14 million) bonus.

If all four majors are won in succession, a further €1 million bonus is awarded.

If two shows are won in succession, the bonus is €500,000 (£427,000/$568,000).
