Russia's world number one, the Rio 2016 Olympic silver medallist Sofya Velikaya, will be in the field for the International Fencing Federation (FIE) World Cup for women's sabre starting in Athens tomorrow.

Ukraine's Rio bronze medallist Olga Kharlan has also entered, as have Cecilia Berder of France and Anna Marton of Hungary, respectively world-ranked second and third.

Meanwhile Padua will stage a World Cup in men's sabre over the next two days.

There will be 212 competitors in the field in Italy, including world number one Eli Dershwitz of the United States, and his compatriot Daryl Homer, the Rio 2016 silver medallist.

Hungary's Rio 2016 champion and world number two Aron Szilagyi will also be among the athletes, as will third-ranked Bongil Gu of South Korea.

Budapest will host Grand Prix épée competition for men and women, starting tomorrow with pool bouts and finishing with the finals on Sunday (March 10).

A total of 260 fencers have entered the women's competition including Italy's world-ranked number one, Mara Navarria, Hong Kong's second-ranked Man Wai Vivian Kong, and South Korea's third-ranked Young Mi Kang.

Also in the women's field is Italy's Rio 2016 silver medallist Rossella Fiamingo and China's bronze medallist Sun Yiwen.

World number one Yannick Borel will be in Budapest, as will Venezuela's third-ranked Ruben Limardo Gascon.

Also in the field will be South Korea's Rio 2016 gold medallist Park Sangyoung.
