Kazakhstan's Yessenkeldi Sapi produced some outstanding lifting to easily claim the men's 81 kilograms overall gold medal at the International Weightlifting Federation Youth World Championships in Las Vegas.
Sapi did not miss a single attempt on his way to amassing a total of 299kg at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino.
The United States' Dade Lawson Stanley finished second with 288kg, while Peru's Amel Karim Atencia Priou, bronze medallist at the 2018 Pan American Youth Championships, came third with 274kg.
In the men's 73kg event, the gold medal went to Bulgaria's Karlos May Hasan Nasar with a total of 291kg.
Uzbekistan's Asadbek Narimanov, the 2018 Asian Youth Championships bronze medallist, had to settle for silver with 287kg.
This was despite taking a 3kg advantage over Nasar into the clean and jerk, managing 133kg to the Bulgarian's 130kg in the snatch.
Both successfully lifted 154kg in the clean and jerk and proceeded to attempt 161kg, which proved to be too much for Narimanov.
