World Taekwondo's inaugural educator certification course has been held over three days in Muju.

The event took place at the famous Taekwondowon in the South Korean city, which held the 2017 World Championships.

Twenty-eight people from 24 countries took part in the course.

It is designed to train instructors who will then go on to teach national taekwondo coaches themselves.

Everyone taking part was recommended by World Taekwondo national associations.

A variety of topics are covered, including competition rules, safeguarding athletes, anti-doping, medical and emergency management and World Taekwondo's history and culture.

Taking place before this year's World Championships in English city Manchester in May, it is hoped the course will lead to a greater standard of taekwondo coaching across the world.

Chungwon Choue, the President of World Taekwondo, said: "Those who take and pass this course will be certified to pass their newly acquired skills and knowledge on to coaches in their home countries, and from there, the expertise will spread throughout their federations."
