Britain's Commonwealth Games champion Courtney Tulloch won the men’s rings on the penultimate day of action at the International Gymnastics Federation Individual Apparatus World Cup in Baku.

The 23-year-old, a bronze medallist in the rings at the 2018 European Championships and silver in 2017, took gold at the National Gymnastics Arena in Azerbaijan with a score of 14.933 points.

Home favourite Nikita Simonov, who qualified in last place on Thursday (March 14) with a score of 14.433 points, managed a significant improvement to finish second in today’s final.

This time out he managed 14.800 points.

Third place was seized by Ukraine’s 2013 European champion Igor Radivilov, who scored 14.666 points.

In the floor final, Israel’s 2017 World Championship silver medallist Artem Dolgopyat scored 15.066 points to win.

Pablo Braegger from Switzerland, the 2017 European horizontal bar champion, came second with 14.566 points and Spain’s Rayderley Zapata third with 14.500.

Kazakhstan’s Milad Karimi who topped qualifying, finished seventh.

Russia then took victory in the parallel bars through Vladislav Poliashov, who scored 15.100 points.

He beat Turkey’s Ferhat Arican and China’s Hao You, who scored 15.100 and 15.066 points respectively.

In today’s women’s events, China and the United States gained victories through Jiaqi Lyu and Jade Carey, winners of the uneven bars and vault respectively.

Lyu scored 14.266 points to win her event, beating Russia’s Anastasiia Iliankova, who managed 14.133, and Australia’s Georgia-Rose Brown in third with 13.566.

Triple Pan American Games champion Carey, meanwhile, gained another victory in the vault with 14.766 points.

That score saw her beat Uzbekistan’s Oksana Chusovitina, who scored 14.450 points, and Mexico’s Alexa Moreno with a mark of 14.249.

Elsewhere, an all-around World Cup began today in Stuttgart in Germany with men’s action.

Russia's reigning world champion Artur Dalaloyan won with a total score of 84.487 points, beating China’s world team champion Sun Wei and Ukraine’s Petro Pakhniuk.

Over six disciplines, the 22-year-old finished first in the floor, rings and parallel bars, came third on the pommel horse and second on the vault.

Wei finished with a score of 83.465 to come second, while Palhniuk managed 82.331.
