The competition is due to take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal next year from March 16 to 22.

Skate Canada have revealed that the theme is "Joie de Vivre", inspired by the charm of Montreal, its French heritage and the hospitality and warmth of the people that live there. 

They claim that the competition will be more than just a sporting event, also acting as an opportunity for fans to sample a unique cultural experience. 

The logo aims to show the youthful energy and movement of the skaters, featuring a "M" for Montreal.

"We are excited that in just one-year we will have the honour of welcoming the world to Canada and Montreal specifically, for the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2020," Leanna Caron, President of Skate Canada, said. 

"We are thrilled to unveil the joie de vivre theme, synonymous to anyone who has experienced the charm and sophistication of Montreal, and the innovative branding for these Championships. 

"We believe that both the theme and logo will resonate with both the skaters who will compete in this event and also the public who adores the athleticism and artistry of figure skating."

The Championships are an annual event, with the 2019 edition having taken place in Saitama in Japan last week.

It will be the 11th time that Canada will host the event, and the second time for Montreal.

The city last hosted the competition in 1932.
