As the race to the Olympic qualification intensifies, Agalman will be seeking to advance her prospects at the Prince Moulay Abdellah venue.

Morocco finished the Karate1-Premier League Rabat last year with three medals and one gold, including the silver medal Agalmam won with the female kata team.

This year, Morocco's staging of the World Karate Federation’s first-class series will involve a delegation of 14 karatekas who will try to take the flag of the host country to the top of the podium.

“The Karate1-Premier League in Rabat is a perfect opportunity for all Moroccan athletes to demonstrate our abilities on the biggest stage,” she said.

“This event gives us the chance to prove ourselves and it will help Moroccan Karate to raise its level.”

Agalmam claimed the silver medal at the 2018 All African Karate Federation (UFAK) Karate Championships after losing the final against Egypt’s Sarah Sayed.

It was the most recent medal in international competitions for the national title-holder who had taken bronze at the World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships a year earlier.

Now Agalmam, 24th in the WKF world rankings, hopes to use the home-ground factor in her favour as she seeks to improve on the bronze medal she won in Rabat in 2016.

“I am really looking forward to participating at the Karate1-Premier League in Rabat," she said.

"It is very important for me to be part of such a big event.

“It is the ideal opportunity to collect more points and to highlight the rising level of Moroccan Karate.”

The Karate1-Premier League is the most important league event in karate.

Initiated in 2011 with two tournaments held in Paris and Istanbul, the Karate1-Premier League has made exponential progress in terms of magnitude and status of the tournaments as well as the number of participants and countries represented.
