The International Festival of Extreme Sports (FISE) has arrived in the Japanese city of Hiroshima for the first of this season’s Battle of the Champions.

Action in another invite-only event gets under way tomorrow at the city’s Former Municipal Stadium with qualifying across a range of sports.

Action starts in the International Cycling Union (UCI) World Cup competition for BMX Freestyle Park and Flatland disciplines, in World Skate’s Roller Freestyle World Cup, and the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Parkour World Cup.

Qualifying will also take place in the FISE World Series Skateboard Street, the International Federation of Sport Climbing’s Bouldering International Series, and the World DanceSport Federation’s World Open Series – Breaking.

“We have landed in Japan for the first stop of the 2019 series and we couldn’t be more excited to be back in Hiroshima,” FISE said.

“The line-up of sports for this event is insane and we can expect a truly epic three days.”

Today’s action was preceded by a press conference involving leading Japanese and international competitors at which it was announced that a peace celebration would take place tomorrow.

Thanks to a collaboration between Hurricane and Peace and Sport, FISE Hiroshima will be the closing event of the 2019 #WhiteCard campaign.

Riders will be engaged in a "FISE Riders for Peace" challenge, after which visitors, riders and officials will raise a white card as strong symbol of peace.
