Belgium's Pieter Devos won the Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) Grand Prix event in Miami Beach to move to the top of the series leaderboard. 

Devos took the victory on Claire Z in a time of 37.38sec, collecting €99,000 (£85,673/$111,340) of prize money in the process.

In second was Harrie Smolders of the Netherlands in 37.42, while Sweden's Malin Baryard-Johnsson finished third in 38.48.

"It's the best of the world here and that’s why I am so happy with my mare," Devos said.

"I am so lucky."

The 33-year old is now the LGCT leader with 88.00 points, secured from the first two events of the series.

"Being series leader gives you a good feeling," Devos added.

"I’m in the lead, which means I was consistent, but tomorrow I’ll have my feet on the ground again."

Miami Celtics, comprising Michael Duffy and Shane Breen of Ireland, were the winning team in the Global Champions League.

Devos and his teammate Athina Onassis of France finished second for St Tropez Pirates.

The Berlin Eagles, represented by Baryard-Johnsson and Denmark's Emil Hallundbaek, came third. 

The next stop on the LGCT is due to be in Shanghai from May 3 to May 5.
