Elshan Huseynov of Azerbaijan earned gold in the men’s up to 107 kilograms category with a best of 225kg, with Ahmed Kamis Albaloushi of the United Arab Emirates taking silver with 198kg.

Mohd Shahmil Md Saad of Malaysia earned bronze on 191kg.

Shamo Aslanov then took Azerbaijan’s final gold total to three in the concluding men’s over 107kg category as he managed a best of 205kg.

Khalid Al Najim matched him in that achievement, but took silver as his first lift of 205kg was three kilograms less than that registered by Aslanov.

Bronze went to Akaki Jintcharadze of Georgia, who lifted 208kg.

Poland’s final placing at the top of the medal table was thanks to victory in the last and heaviest women’s category, the over 86kg, by Marzena Zieba thanks to a second effort of 127kg that left her 17kg clear of Israel’s Polina Katsman and 45kg clear of bronze medallist Netsuda Panna of Thailand.

That brought Poland level with Russia on four golds, and put them top thanks to a better record with minor medals.

Chile’s Marion Serrano Guajardo produced a dramatic finish in the women’s up to 79kg class.

After failing twice with efforts at 102kg, she upped the ante to 107kg for her third and final effort – 1kg more than Indonesia’s Siti Mahmudah had lifted in her second round.

The Chilean managed it, thus setting a world junior record, and when Mahmudah failed to lift her third and final effort, at 111kg, Guajardo added gold.

Bronze went to Chinese Taipei’s Tzu-Hui Lin, who lifted 100kg.

Louise Sugden of Britain won the women’s up to 86kg class with a best of 115kg.
