The Naples 2019 Summer Universiade has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Campania Regional Youth Forum designed to promote the event that will run from July 3 to 14 this year.

The intention of the MoU is to raise the profile of the impending international competition – the 30th of its kind to be held under the aegis of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) – in the five provinces of Campania.

The municipalities involved will be making use of 250 established individual youth forums to publicise the event, as well as encouraging youth participation in the volunteer recruitment campaign, creating related events and sharing content on social networks.

“The Regional Youth Forum will be our link to the Campania Regional Council,” said the Naples 2019 Special Commissioner, Gianluca Basile.

“I want to say thank you to the President, Rosa D’Amelio, who made it possible.

“This agreement represents a further opportunity to promote the Universiade, with the possibility of involving young people as volunteers.”

Giuseppe Caruso, President of the Regional Youth Forum, added: “With this agreement we confirm the central position of young people in the process of approaching a pivotal event in Southern Italy for 2019 such as the Universiade.

“It is a sporting event that, starting from the values of sport and cooperation, will contribute to the enhancement of Naples and Campania in the world.”
