Slovenian town Celje is set to host a short track speed skating development camp later this year.

The Alpe-Adria Development Camp is due to take place from August 8 to 18.

It will aim to develop short track speed skating and to improve leadership in coaching in the Alpe-Adria region.

"The main focus of the project is to create a clear and correct understanding of the discipline of short track speed skating in order to provide better education for skaters and coaches, including getting acquainted with new learning approaches for skating techniques and improving the physical fitness of skaters," an International Skating Union (ISU) statement reads.

During the 11-day camp, there will be training twice a day under the direction of highly-qualified coaches and moderators.

At the end of the camp, there will be a competition to measure the improvement of skaters.

The target is to identify the top 10 skaters under the age of 18 from each participating country.

"There will also be a professional environment to educate local coaches and support them in creating a yearly training plan for the upcoming season, and making sure the quality of the training continues in their ISU member throughout the season," the statement adds.
