Ling Yang came out on top in the men's 10 metres platform final, with a high score of 89.25 for his second of six dives in an overall total of 446.55.

Britain's 2018 Commonwealth Games silver medallist Noah Williams picked up the silver medal, a superb final dive earning 79.2 points to give him a combined 398.8.

Williams pipped the other Chinese diver in the final, Song Yuan, who earned bronze with 385.3.

In fourth place was 12-year-old Japanese prodigy Rikuto Tamai, his country's youngest national champion who is eyeing global stardom at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Tamai, with a vociferous crowd backing him in Spain and his parents watching, coaching and filming on the sidelines, led the field after a stunning first dive that scored him 86.4.

However, he could not maintain consistency and finished out of the medals.

In the other event on Friday, Ying Wei led a Chinese one-two in the women's 3m springboard final.

She finished with a total of 312.6, ahead of team mate Ting Ma on 306.35.

Elizaveta Kuzina of Russia won bronze with 285.35, edging out team mate Vitaliia Koroleva, who led after the first dive but made a major mistake on her final performance and missed out on a medal.
